Ladakh LG launches ambitious scheme ‘Rewa’ for students | KNO

‘Under new scheme, meritorious students to appear in national level entrance exams, get admissions in reputed institutions’

Srinagar, Jun 09 (KNO): In order to encourage the meritorious students of Union Territory (UT) Ladakh to appear in national level entrance examinations to get admissions in the reputed institutions, Lieutenant Governor (LG) R K Mathur on Wednesday launched a scheme Rewa’ for the support to meritorious students. In this regard, an order was issued by the LG administration, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). The order states that the national level entrance exams include NEST, JEE, NDA, UG and CLAT to encourage those students who qualify the preliminary examinations of National Level Competitive Examinations. It reads that the administration of Union Territory of Ladakh shall give financial assistance for availing coaching facilities. “Financial Assistance to meritorious students of UT of Ladakh, for availing coaching facility through Directorate of Social and Tribal Welfare, UT of Ladakh as per the terms, conditions and eligibility criteria opted for the said scheme,” it reads. The official communiqué also states that for the meritorious students who plan to appear in the NEET, JEE, UG CLAT and NDA examinations, financial assistance up to Rs one lakh shall be given to help them take up quality coaching. It reads that the meritorious students of 10th Standard Board Examinations, thirty students each belonging from Kargil and Leh district (total 60) will be selected on the basis of percentage and grade of marks secured in the 10th standard board examinations. “The students will be selected from government schools within Ladakh which includes twenty students in each district, private schools within Ladakh which includes five students from each district and students of schools outside Ladakh which includes five in Kargil and Leh districts respectively,” the order reads. It was also mentioned that the meritorious students of 12th Standard Board Examinations, a total of thirty five students belonging to Kargil district and Leh district (total 70) will be selected on the basis of percentage and grade of marks secured in the 12th Standard Board examinations. “The number of students will be selected for the course of Medical (30 students), Non-Medical (30 students) and Humanities (10 students),” it reads—(KNO)
